MLS Citation Policy
In order to ensure the integrity of the MLS and the MLS database, the following Citation policy has been established in accordance with Section 14.3 of the MLS Rules & Regulations. Fines will be issued in accordance with this policy and are subject to change upon approval of the Board of Directors. This policy is not all-inclusive, may not reflect violations of the Code of Ethics and does not replace Professional Standards Enforcement.
MLS Compliance Guidelines
Fines will be issued in accordance with this policy and are subject to change upon the request of teh Board of Directors. This policy is not all-inclusive. All information begins with a Warning Letter unless the member has a history of violations on the same category.

MLS Rules & Regulations
Avoid a $500.00 or $1,000.00 Fines
This section will provide you with some of the necessary information on how you can prevent a $500.00 or $1,000.00 fine. PWR has a Citation Policy in place in order to maintain the accuracy of your MLS data. Please carefully review the Citation Policy and the MLS Rules and Regulations.

Below are lists of Categories that are explained in more detail in the PWR Citation Policy:

Category 1. Fine Amount is $1,000.00

  • 1.1 Active listing without a valid listing agreement

  • 1.2 Failure to enter listings in MLS or provide PWR with the Authorization to Exclude Listing Form

  • 1.3 Late entry of a new listing

  • 1.4 Entry of a property listed by a non-MLS member

  • 1.5 Entry of inaccurate listing status

  • 1.6 Late reporting of a Pending Sale

  • 1.7 Late reporting of a Final Sale

  • 1.8 Conditional offers of compensation

  • 1.9 Misuse of data with the intent to mislead

  • 1.10 Inappropriate image and virtual tour links


Category 2. Fine Amount is $500.00

  • 2.1 Duplicate listings by the same agent/broker

  • 2.2 Entry of inaccurate selling information

  • 2.3 Wrong property classification

  • 2.4 Misuse of Public Remarks

  • 2.5 Mandatory Photo

Report a Violation
  1. Call the PWR Violation Hotline at (714) 245-5595, or FAX to (714) 245-5596, or email MLSViolations@pwr.net to report a violation. Your identity will, of course, be kept CONFIDENTIAL.

  2. Report as follows-

    1. The name and office of the alleged violator

    2. The nature of the violation (be as specific as possible, i.e., when it occurred, the ML #, etc.)

    3. Leave your name and contact information (THIS INFORMATION IS FOR VERIFICATION PURPOSES ONLY AND WILL BE KEPT IN STRICT CONFIDENCE)

    4. Please Provide us the MLS Number

    5. DO NOT call the SoCal MLS "Miss Information" number to report a violation of a "P" listings or violations by PWR members.
